Silk Screen Printed Ceramics

These are a few pieces I created just before the end of 2012, Monday I will fresh on the wheel back at Tafe in Cairns learning Refined Wheel Throwing and incorporating silk screen prints onto ceramics.

The image was created and inspired from a retro 70’s lampshade I found on ebay.. very cool, I was researching lamp bases and found this awesome piece.

 The print was then inverted in Photoshop to prepare for conversion to silk screen printinverted image

  I created one size in A4 and a smaller version in A3

There is etching into the clay to accentuate the circular shapes which I then used onto my pendants. The effect was quite striking. I created some sushi platters for Xmas gifts and used a cobalt blue, pink and yellow slip painted onto the piece and printed with red iron oxide printmaking medium.

I have taken some beautiful images of the flora and fauna here in Cairns and can’t wait to apply these onto ceramics..
